Record label account

Do you represent a record label with several artists? A label account gives you a single place from which you manage the releases, statistics and royalties of all your artists.

A label account is a special type of account in Artists Bez Labelu. The 1 artist = 1 user account rule applies here too – each of your artists has their own account and the label manages them from its own zone. You cannot create a label account through the regular registration: Write to us at info@bezlabelu.cz and we will set it up together.

Who a label account is for

  • For a record label that releases music by several artists and wants to keep their releases, statistics and royalties in one place.
  • For a label that wants to create and upload its artists’ releases itself, even in bulk.
  • If you only release your own music under one artist name, you don’t need a label account – a regular artist account is enough, even if you call yourself a label.

How to get a label account

1

Write to us. Send the name of the label, your contact details and who you represent to info@bezlabelu.cz. If some of your artists already have a Bez Labelu account, include their artist names.

2

We agree on how you will work with your artists. Either your artists register themselves and we assign them to your label, or you create them yourself in the label zone. We describe both options below, and they can also be combined.

3

Turn on two-factor authentication. It is mandatory for a label account – it manages the music and royalties of several artists at once. The steps are in the article 2FA – Two-factor authentication.

4

Complete your profile. For royalty payouts, the label must have a bank account and phone number filled in in its profile.

Two ways to work with your artists

Artists have their own accounts You create the artists
Creating the artist account The artist registers themselves at artists.bezlabelu.cz and we assign them to your label. You create the artist in the label zone – without the artist registering or logging in.
Registration fee Paid when the artist registers, as with any account. You pay it for each new artist in the Fees tab.
Login The artist logs in to their own account. The artist has no login of their own; you manage their account.
Royalty payout The artist requests it themselves in their own account. We transfer the balances to the label and pay them out in a single payment.
Requests The artist submits them from their own account. Email us whatever you need.

The label zone

A label account has an extra My label item in the left-hand menu. The label zone has these tabs:

Tab What you will find there
Overview The number of artists and releases, import drafts in progress, royalties ready for payout and unpaid artist fees.
Artists A list of artists with their status (active, waiting for fee payment, waiting for activation, terminated), number of releases and royalties. Active artists have Releases and Log in as artist buttons. If you create the artists yourself, there is also an Add an artist form here.
Release import Bulk upload of releases from CSV, JSON or XML, including WAV files.
Royalty payout Royalties of the label’s artists and the payout request.
Fees Fees for the artists you create yourself – payment and invoice.
Log in as artist

The button opens the artist’s account as if you had logged in as them. This is handy, for example, for creating a new release on the artist’s behalf. You return to the label account by logging out of the artist’s account.

Creating artists

If you create the artists yourself, fill in the Add an artist form in the Artists tab: The artist name and main genre (required), first name and last name, the artist’s email (optional, for record-keeping only – the artist does not log in) and the Spotify URI and Apple Music ID identifiers. If you leave the identifiers empty, the artist will get a new profile on Spotify and Apple Music – how to find them is described in the article Spotify URI, Apple Music ID and Amazon Music ASIN.

For each new artist, a one-off registration fee is paid, just as for any other artist account – you will find the amount in the price list. You pay it by transfer from a Czech bank using the QR code. As soon as we match the payment, the artist is activated automatically and you receive an email. You will find the invoice next to the fee in the Fees tab.

What the label sees and does on behalf of its artists

  • Music releases: You have the releases of all your artists in one place and you manage them – you edit the details, send them to distribution and remove them from distribution. The rules of the artist account the release belongs to apply, for example platforms that are unavailable to the artist, or a terminated artist account.
  • Dashboard and Analytics: You see the figures combined for all your artists. In Analytics you can choose a specific artist or the All my artists summary.
  • Royalties: An overview broken down by individual artist.
  • Music videos: You can see your artists’ music videos and create them on their behalf.
  • Campaign planner: An artist with their own account can share their campaign planner with you; you will see it in read-only mode. You can always see the planner of the artists you create yourself.

The public profile, events and other add-on services belong to the artist account, not the label account.

Release import

You can upload several releases at once in the Release import tab:

1

Upload the metadata. CSV (each row is one recording, semicolon as the separator), JSON or XML. A single file can produce several releases. You can download a template with the Download sample CSV button. You can also create a draft manually via New draft manually.

2

Check the draft. The artist is assigned to the release automatically if the name in the file exactly matches one of the label’s artists. Otherwise, you select them in the draft. Complete or correct the release and recording details.

3

Add the WAV files and cover art. Drag the WAV files into the draft. They are assigned by file name, for example “01 - Title.wav”, or by dragging them onto the recording’s row. We only accept WAV files in a quality of at least 44.1 kHz / 16-bit and up to 900 MB per file. You upload the cover art as a JPG or PNG, a square from 3000 × 3000 to 6000 × 6000 px and up to 50 MB, and it can also be added later.

4

Create the release. By clicking Create release, you confirm that the label holds all the rights to the release and recordings and that the details are correct. Recordings without a WAV file remain in the draft. The release is created without distribution – you choose the platforms and send the release in the release details just like any other (Submitting a release for distribution step by step).

Submit the release no later than 14 days before the release date, but ideally a month in advance.

Royalty payouts and documents

Artists with their own account request payouts themselves, and their balances are not transferred to the label. The balances of the artists you create yourself are transferred to the label when you submit a request, and we pay them out in a single payment to the label’s account. In the history, you will see them as Artist royalties transferred to the label.

  • You request a payout in the Royalty payout tab, from CZK 1,000.
  • In the request, you confirm that you have agreed on the settlement of royalties with the label’s artists.
  • Only one payout request can be pending at a time.
  • We send the money to the bank account the label has in its profile at the moment of the request. How long a payout takes is described in the article How long a royalty payout takes.

In the Revenue section under Documents & statements, you can download payout confirmations with a breakdown by individual artist. For the artists you create yourself, we issue the confirmations to the label. More in the article Payout confirmations and royalty statements.

What to keep in mind

The label does not submit requests

An artist with their own account submits them themselves. Whatever you need, write to us at info@bezlabelu.cz.

2FA is mandatory

For a label account, two-factor authentication is mandatory and cannot be turned off.

The artist name changes only in exceptional cases

An artist name can be changed only in exceptional cases, in the Profile and under the same conditions as for any account. A new project under a different name means a new artist with their own account.

Frequently asked questions

Is the registration fee also paid for artists under a label?

Yes. Each performer has their own account, which is why a one-off registration fee according to the price list is paid for each of them – either when they register, or in the Fees tab if you create the artist yourself.

My artists already have accounts with Bez Labelu. Can they move under my label?

Write to us which artists are involved and we will arrange their assignment to the label. The artists keep their accounts and logins.

How do I add a Spotify URI or Apple Music ID for an artist I created?

Ideally straight away in the Add an artist form. If you need to add or correct them later, write to us and we will fill them in.

Can my label’s name be shown on the releases?

Write to us – we will agree on your own label name for the releases when setting up the account.
