Meta Fingerprinting (Facebook, Instagram, Threads)
Meta Fingerprinting is a music content protection system for Facebook, Instagram and Threads. It works on the same principle as YouTube Content ID – it automatically recognises your music in other users' content and lets you manage claims on it.
What is Meta Fingerprinting?
Meta Fingerprinting (also known as Meta Rights Manager) is a system for managing rights to music content across Meta platforms – Facebook, Instagram and Threads. Once your recording is registered, the system continuously compares it with all published content and automatically applies your claim when it finds a match.

The system is based on an audio fingerprint – a unique digital pattern is created from each recording. This pattern is then compared with content uploaded by users. If a video contains your music – even just in the background – the system detects the match and applies a claim.
Meta can label the content, limit its reach, block it in certain countries or redirect the advertising revenue to you.
Who can have Meta Fingerprinting?
Just like YouTube Content ID, Meta Fingerprinting is switched off by default for all accounts. We enable it on request once you send us a solemn declaration – and only for accounts with no AI-generated music and no beats from the internet. The eligibility rules are identical:
Eligible recordings
- Your own original work – both the music and the lyrics are the result of your own original creative activity.
- A production made to order exclusively for this recording (not a beat from the internet).
- Content to which you hold indisputable and exclusive rights.
Ineligible recordings
- Beats or instrumentals from the internet – under any licence, even an “exclusive” one.
- Stock and royalty-free libraries.
- AI-generated music.
- Cover versions and remixes of other people's songs.
- Recordings containing third-party samples.
If, for any recording, you answer in the Track origin guide that it is AI-generated or that you used a beat from the internet, Meta Fingerprinting (just like YouTube Content ID) will no longer appear in the list of platforms for your entire account. Where a release is already in the system, the only option left is removal.
Why do the same restrictions apply as for YouTube Content ID?
The logic is identical to YouTube Content ID. If the same beat is used by thousands of artists, each of them could claim to own it. The system cannot tell who is right – and the result is conflicting claims, wrongful blocks and harm to other creators who used the music legally.
That is why one simple rule applies: Only content to which one specific owner holds exclusive rights may enter claim management systems. No exceptions.
If you register a recording in Meta Fingerprinting to which you do not hold exclusive rights, and the system applies a claim to the content of another creator who used the music legally, this is an infringement of their rights. In such a case, Meta can revoke your access to the system and we have the right to remove the recording from fingerprinting.
Conditions of access
Meta Fingerprinting is switched off by default for all accounts and there is no request for it in Artists Bez Labelu. If your recordings meet the conditions, write to us – we will enable it once you send a solemn declaration, and only for accounts with no AI-generated music and no beats from the internet (for such accounts, the app hides it completely and it cannot be enabled). The recording must not contain non-exclusive or mass-licensed instrumentals, nor beats from the internet, under any licence. We may revoke access to the service or remove a recording from fingerprinting at any time if there is reasonable suspicion that it does not meet the conditions or could lead to incorrect or conflicting claims. Everything is governed by the Terms and Conditions.
