The option to buy or pre-add a release in a store (mainly iTunes) before the release date.
The pre-order start date is an optional release field. Pre-orders apply to stores, not to streaming.
Not to be confused with
- Pre-save – A link through which a fan saves an upcoming release to their Spotify or Apple Music library in advance.
