Playing your tracks before sending them to distribution

Before you send a release to distribution, you can play it in Artists Bez Labelu – each track on its own or the whole release in a row. That way you can check you uploaded the right files in the right order.

How it works

  • The listening copy is made on upload: When you upload an audio file to a track, your browser prepares a smaller listening copy in lower quality. The original is uploaded in full quality as always – it is always the original that goes to distribution.
  • Playing in the release detail: Every track has a Play button, and Play release plays all tracks one after another in the release order.
  • Just for you: Only you (and we, when checking the release) can hear the listening copy. It is never published.
  • Deleted after sending: As soon as you send the release to distribution, we delete the listening copies. If you don’t send the release, they are deleted after 30 days.

Only for newly uploaded files

The listening copy is only made when you upload audio. We don’t create it afterwards for tracks uploaded earlier – if you want to play them before sending, upload the audio file again when editing the track.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the listening copy sound worse than my master?

It is smaller so it loads quickly, even on a phone. It is only for checking the files and their order – we send the original you uploaded to distribution.

There is no Play button next to a track.

The track was uploaded earlier, or your browser couldn’t prepare the listening copy (the track is then uploaded normally, just without playback). Try uploading the audio file again in an up-to-date browser on a computer.

Can I play the release after sending it?

Not in Artists – the listening copies are deleted once the release is sent to distribution. You can then play the finished release on the platforms.
