Re-release
Also known as: reissuere-release
Releasing content that came out before – for example after switching distributors, as a remaster or a deluxe edition.
With a re-release it is essential to keep the recordings' ISRC codes (and when switching distributors also the UPC/EAN); otherwise the platforms treat them as new recordings and you lose statistics and playlist placements. Mark a remaster or deluxe edition in the release title.
Not to be confused with
- Takedown – Removing a release from the platforms on the distributor's instruction – it stops being available to listeners.
- Compilation – A release made of recordings already released elsewhere – a selection, a best-of or singles merged into an album.
