Collective management
Also known as: collective rights managementcollecting societyCMO
Collective exercise of copyright and related rights by a state-authorised organisation – it collects fees from music users and distributes them to rights holders.
A collecting society concludes licences with radio and TV stations, concert organisers, venues and platforms that an individual author could not manage alone. In Czechia the key music societies are OSA (authors), Intergram (performers and record producers) and OAZA (sound engineers).
Distribution royalties and remuneration from collecting societies are two different sources of money – one does not replace the other.
Not to be confused with
- Distributor – The company that delivers music to platforms and collects and pays out royalties. For Bez Labelu clients it is Bez Labelu.
