Error when uploading an image
An image upload error almost always has a technical cause: The image isn't square, isn't the right size, or isn't in JPG or PNG format. Read exactly what the system requires – and how to fix it.
When the error occurs
An image upload error always occurs when the image does not meet the technical requirements. The system rejects the image in these cases:
- The image is not square – the horizontal and vertical dimensions must be exactly the same (aspect ratio 1:1).
- The size is outside the permitted range – the image must be between 3,000 × 3,000 px and 6,000 × 6,000 px. Anything outside this range – whether too small or too large – will be rejected by the system.
- Unsupported format or file too large – the image must be a JPG or PNG and no larger than 50 MB.
A size of 3,000 × 3,001 px is just as wrong as 4,500 × 5,000 px or 6,600 × 6,600 px. The system doesn't check “approximately” – either the image meets the requirements exactly, or it is rejected.
Examples of correct and incorrect sizes

| 4,500 × 4,500 px | ✓ | ✓ | OK |

| 4,500 × 5,000 px | ✗ | – | ERROR |
| 2,000 × 4,000 px | ✗ | ✗ | ERROR |
| 6,600 × 6,600 px | ✓ | ✗ | ERROR |
Summary of the technical requirements for the image
If you only change the file extension (for example from image.webp to image.jpg), the file is still not a JPG – only the name has changed, not the actual format. You need to export or save the image properly as a JPG or PNG directly in your graphics program.
Prepare the image in advance – the Image check will help you fix it
You must have the image prepared in advance. We don't edit it manually for you – and the best result is always cover art created in the right size from the start:
Every professional graphic designer knows in what format and size to deliver artwork – and always gets it right the first time. If you don't have a designer, you have to prepare the image yourself: Set the right dimensions as soon as you start creating it, or use any graphics tool (Photoshop, GIMP, Canva, etc.) and export the image in the right size.
If the size or format isn't right, the Image check tool in Artists Bez Labelu will help you – you will find its button in the Music releases section, and the link “Improve or fix the cover in the Image check tool” on the Release cover page too. It checks the image and, with the Fix cover button, converts it to JPG in RGB and crops it to a square of a permitted size. It can also enlarge a small or blurry cover to 3,000 × 3,000 px using AI. Everything happens directly in your browser, and you can insert the finished cover straight into the release form. Always look over the result, though – cropping from the centre may cut off the edges, and the AI may not get lettering or faces right.
If you don't have your cover art ready yet, you can create the release without it and add the image later via Edit album details.
